Happy New Year, 2019

Hello again and welcome to another year and another revision of this website.

The year is 2019, and unlike all of my existence thus far I’ve actually started thinking about the things I want to achieve this year and made a proper plan, with SMART goals and everything! I’m not sure why I decided to do things differently in 2019, it must be a special number or something? Let’s do the math: 20 plus 19 equals 39, 9 is also how you say “no” in German, so knock that off the end and what have you got?

Half Life 3 confirmed 👨‍🔬

Okay, so I lied when I said I didn’t know why I’m changing my outlook on things this year. I was spurred on by an email from Microsoft at the end of 2018 telling me that I spent a total of almost 1500 hours that year playing Xbox games, a good 20% of that time was playing one title. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love me some Warframe, ninjas in space are cool, but there’s just too many things in my backlog that need to be busted and my Trello boards were bursting at the seams with “rainy day ideas” (and we get a lot of those in Morecambe).

So here I am again, with a fresh new website to maintain. This time, I’m using the Hugo static site generator and building myself a theme for it from the ground up. Not having any databases to worry about saves me the hassle of being hacked by 🇨🇳 and 🇷🇺, and starting from scratch means I can totally delete all those old posts from previous years where I promised to maintain a blog properly and only ever posted a maximum of 5 times. Yes, I’m one of those bloggers.

This is not a squirrel 🐿️

That there is the chipmunk emoji. Why am I telling you this? Well I discovered there isn’t an emoji for a squirrel, which is great because it means I won’t get distracted from my goals this year. The Pursuit of Loot blog will be a squirrel-free zone. I’ve made my plans and I am sticking to them.

Did you set any goals for the year? I’d ask you to let me know in the comments section, but there isn’t one yet. Another thing to add to the list I guess. For now, thank you for reading this all the way to the end, may your new year be filled with blessings and wisdoms such as these;

The key is to enjoy life, because they don’t want you to enjoy life. DJ Khaled
